As the owner of the first and longest established public and media relations company on the Gold Coast (est 1976), it has been a great privilege to work with Nick from his teen years through to the talented digital professional we see today. The digital era began at a time when I was scaling down my business as I approached retirement (that never happened), so with Nick by my side, originally working part time at a desk in my office, my business had a head start in the development of web sites and other digital platforms.
I still regularly work with Nick, developing websites and complex online tools that are playing key roles in reducing the horrific food waste in Australia, and helping cold chain companies to achieve world class compliance.
What has surprised me, and indeed the organisations I represent, is that Nick brings to every client table a rare insight into the digital construction of advanced educational tools and training programs. He is much more than a website builder. In my experience, most commercial web designers might be good at getting a website up and running, but they care little about the quality of the illustration and the texts that make up website content. Nick works with clients to develop web content and instinctively knows what will work.
Nick has recently completed what I believe to be the most difficult and far reaching task for the Australian cold food industry. It is the Cold Chain Benchmarking Tool, developed in collaboration with AusIndustry, a federal government body, and which is being presented to all cold food handlers in the country as a means of improving standards of compliance and reducing food waste.
Personally, I am very proud of Nick's progress and commend him to those who need genuine and honest digital communication advice – but please allow him a little time for me until I really retire.
